The number of new mortgages being approved for buying a house is still strong, according to the British Bankers Association (BBA).
In August, 71,000 new mortgages were granted to UK house buyers by the major banks represented by the BBA.

This was 4% more than in July and 3% up on August last year.

I wish I'd bought more houses now when they were cheap.

I've done OK out of it. 1995 was the ideal time to buy. Now looking for a 500K house in London with a 100K mortgage. But if it follows the US model we're in for a drastic slowdown next year.
