The Tories bludgeon the last few contractors to death in order to make way for no taxpaying outsource companies employing non tax paying Bobs. Just like Labour, they lied.

No UK government has ever been in favour of small businesses or the self-employed. The county is run by private companies like Capita, CGI and Mouchel who seem to run government, local councils, and even the courts.

When the government runs business, it is communism. When business runs the government is fascism.

Corporate cronyism, maybe, as fascism entails the exact opposite. Besides, it isn't so much that the government is run by them, as it is that it is skewed by its incentive structure to rent out its services to the highest bidder, as and when it benefits those within it.

It's difficult to blame Tory voters for something that wasn't in the Tory manifesto and which wasn't even hinted at by them. Maybe you can blame them if they vote for them again.

The other thing is, a lot of Tories voters did so on the premise of ruling out an outcome (Lab/SNP) feared to be worse than what they got, which may well have proven true anyway; the candidate Labour put forward was terrible and they now acknowledge they had the wrong message on the economy. Both parties are revenue hungry, and have no objection to going after unpopular minorities for that income. I think Tractor's quite right when he says (paraphrases) whoever you vote for, the government always gets in, or something like that.

I think the time has come to end running a country's economy on political agenda whims, just get the top men in on the job, pay 'em tulip loads and we all reap the benefits.

With IR35, they were trying to classify as employees of ClientCo so clearly this is a win-win. IF we derive income in the form of dividends, then we pay some more tax. The important thing is our integrity as legitimate businesses is not compromised.

I think you need to keep up. After the disguised employment/PSC consultation, you won't have to worry about dividends.

It's not like they've traded IR35 for this measure (although that could happen). It's still going to undergo a consultation. Apparently the HoL one didn't come out with the right answer. This, plus the expenses consultation, is what people are worried about. I.e. it isn't over yet.

As always, before you vote you need to work out what they are not saying.

Tories said what they would not cut. That didn't leave much else but to introduce new taxes and raid the pensions (again).

We were always going to be a big target and no one cares. Agents will just move onto permie focus. Consultancies will pay their contribution to party funds in return for more government business. Offshorers will get more of the business. Clients will get them cheaper. Government will get more tax (and NI if they convert enough of us). Joe Public think we are all MGBs anyways.

Big win/win for the government. To be fair it only took 5 administrations and 45 years to do it.
