That's not far off the mark, although the football team has since been promoted to the Football League, League Two.

The Nags Head in Dunstable is worth a visit to see celebrity ex-Chelsea and England footballer Kerry Dixon lumping someone. His latest exploit went before the judge a couple of weeks ago, and his defence was that "he struck out in a 'pre-emptive strike' in self defence."

Clearly an expert in the welsh martial art of Llap-Goch.

Legally you are perfectly entitled to lamp someone if you are in reasonable fear of an imminent attack.

Assault need not involve actual physical violence - It can be just a threat of violence, such as close up shouting.

The court didn't agree with his defence though

Not the case here. The victim was sitting on a bar stool and Dixon went over to him, not the other way around. That's why he got 8 months.

But the victim probably deserved it anyway, being a Nags Head punter, and being as Dixon was a good player.
