    Skills shortages

    A myth? or True?

Is it a lack of competence from resourcing staff or that the client is too mean to pay market rates?

Stricter visa rules to give firms headache amid skills shortage | City A.M.

Is the answer for ICT/engineering to get more women into male dominated jobs

UK needs over one million new engineers and technicians, says Royal Academy of Engineering - Home News - UK - The Independent

If so where are these women going to come from?

Yup our Eastern European offshore provider has also run out of programmers. The PM just went on a tour of Poland to find some more.
    I'm alright Jack

So they can have more underpaid workers presumably
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Can they find some Tube drivers whilst they are there?

I have a few locked in my cellar. I'm sure they would be good at engineering cos they spend a lot of time tapping on the pipes with a spanner.

A mixture of both but erring more on the side of the client not being prepared to pay market rates. I'm no economist but if you flood the market with cheaper people why would anyone want to pay more than they have to.

This links in nicely with the other thread about bench time... in theory if there were such skills shortages, there should be very little bench time experienced by any of us.

Over the last decade I've seen a lot more women joining the ranks of the tech industry. Sure, it's still male dominated but it is increasing.

Why can't employers recruit or train from the UK?
