" ScS, the furniture retailer, has hailed an improvement in sofa sales after blaming pre-election uncertainty for a slowdown earlier in the year.
The unexpected trading update from the sofa chain was accompanied by the news that the group’s chief financial officer, Ron Turnbull, has decided to quit the business.
In May, ScS caused huge disappointment to investors who had backed the retailer’s flotation five months earlier when it said sales had slumped by almost 16pc.
ScS said that an improvement in trading in the final quarter of the financial year meant that like-for-like order intake for the 26 weeks to July 24 was 1.4pc higher than last year. "
