Can one buy a box fridge?

Not a box freezer, but a fridge that looks like one, with a lid that opens upwards. I can't find any on Google.

I'll soon be picking sackfuls of spuds from my potato patch, and will need a cool dark place to store them.

Or perhaps a box freezer with a temperature dial that can be turned above freezing.

    TIA

Haven't you got a cellar? Or a garage? If they're not earlies then they do fine in hessian sacks for ages. Only thing you need to watch for is you've not got any damaged ones which will rot, or a massive load of slugs in amongst them.

No idea about your original question. Can you put a normal fridge on it's back?

Attach your own thermostat to a chest freezer. Or just run it till you get the temperature you want then switch it off and keep the lid shut.

It would probably work out cheaper just to buy your spuds from Waitrose.

I was thinking this, but it isn't ALL about price

seconded for the garage - we keep apples throughout winter and have kept spuds and onions for up to six months. Darkness is one of the big factors, and best if you can store without touching each other.

Ignoring all the eco-babble, step 2 of this linky says how to convert a chest freezer into a fridge.

I'd still just sling 'em in the garage though.

Get a large chilled drinks fridge (as used in bars to hold the Magners and Smirnoff Ice etc) and lay it on its side?

That's what I said: get your own thermostat.

What's wrong with a Gru ice gun?

Just plonk them in your garage and cover with cloth or blankets enough to stop any light getting in, and when you want some for dinner retrieve the potatoes without exposing the bag to the light

They will last long enough like that, they don't need to be in a fridge
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.
