    BBC Newsnight 19th August

did anyone watch the piece about contractors?

very interesting, but so so true.

i've given up working via agencies, just a pitty it took me eight years to figure that one out.

and this all comes together nicely with the proposed changes to IR35.

What happens in General, stays in General.
You know what they say about assumptions!

If only the BBC had an easily-searchable website through which they made their programmes available for a while after transmission

          It's about self employment.

          Again.

So far as I can see not relevant to contracting.
It didn't seem to be sure what it was about. They seemed to conflate that young bloke running his own think tank (WTF?) with bar staff who are told they have to be self employed so they can be given a zero-hours contract, and with agency workers staffing warehouses. No real insight into the complex question of different groups, working under very different terms and conditions and for very different reasons yet lumped together by the powers that be, beyond shrugging and saying "Hey look, defining the term 'self employed' is hard"
