    Real men have big balls

    https://hackaday.io/project/7231-ear...noise-analysis

I designed, built and programmed a new vector seismometer specifically for the purpose of accurately recording the varying directions and amplitudes of seismic noise. Its mechanical and electronic design is original and is open source.

for the hardware men (and ladies) out there... nice

He should have washed the flux off that pcb with alchohol.

Nothing worse than flux on a pcb for giving nasty leakage paths.

Bob Pease used to advocate a couple of passes through a dishwasher for that really really clean pcb feel.

Especially if it's proper tin/lead solder with a proper allergy inducing flux.

I did some soldering of RS232 connectors (pins 2,3 and 7 IIRC) in my first job. Kept burning myself. As my boss said (100% seriously) "Women are good at soldering; it requires the same skills as sewing." Different times...

If you take the lead out of solder, then there's a tendency to form tin whiskers.

Tin whiskers are Baaaaad News in electronics coz they short stuff out.

There's a photo on a Nasa site of a tin plated variable capacitor that looks like it's covered in metallic fur.

Yes, I remember it well. Those were the days when you didn't fix a dry joint by putting a wedge of apple in yer baccy tin
