Train into central London from Luton or MK?

I have commute from Manchester to London next Tuesday in the morning rush hour. I plan to set off around 4-4.30am but don't want to drive all the way into Central London (Kensington) so was thinking to drive somewhere close-ish and then get a train into London.

Being a Northerner and knowing very little about commuting into London, I was thinking to park up at Luton or MK and get a train from there. To my Southern CLUK friends, does that sound like a reasonable plan?

Also, i'll be travelling with my elderly Dad so is there likely to be seats on these trains in rush hour or is that just a step too far?

Peak time commute to London by train requires this -

    1) A pot of gold to pay for one way ticket
    2) A leprechaun to have a chance to get a seat

You could drive into Luton and park on Suity's drive. He will drop you both off at the train station for £5

MK to London is about 30 minutes with very frequent trains, and a huge car park to cope with the number of commuters heading into London, plus your car should still be there in one piece when you get back

Just make sure you don't get a slow train, go for a London Midland or Virgin train from MK and you should be ok
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

Or drive up the night before and stay in cheap B&B and then get to London not half dead!

Get the train from Picc, when you hit rush hour period the M1 is for parking only. Queue after Junction, Queue after Junction, Queue after Junction.......

                  Much more sensible option.

Actually I would do it for nothing. The drive is taken up with the Touran, but there is on street parking where my car used to be before I sold it.

It's the spirit of CUK to do this
