    There are already Syrians living legit in this country.

    If their family members come over and claim asylum so be it.

    However the Home Office under all governments, unlike certain other EU countries, tends to refuse to allow relative and friends' to visit if they are coming from a country that is in conflict.

    It doesn't matter how highly educated and skilled i.e. useful these people would be to the country if they did claim asylum.

      You have an ongoing assumption that all asylum seekers and refugees are highly educated and skilled. They're not, and even the ones that are skilled in their own country need further training to meet UK/EU standards.

      You also have an assumption that there are jobs for them to come to in Europe. Try asking the 25% unemployed Spanish youth whether bringing in more people makes sense.
