Futuristic bladeless laser razor could 'transform' shaving

" The humble razor hasn't changed much for hundreds of years. But now two Swedish inventors claim to have designed a laser-powered shaving tool that obliterates the chance of accidental cutting, irritation and expensive cartridge replacements.

Their futuristic creation, the Skarp Razor, is simply waved over a piece of skin and the razor cuts the hair to skin level, giving an "incredibly close shave".

The bladeless razor, made of aluminium, can last for around 50,000 hours, and it runs on a single re-chargeable AAA battery. "

Pretty cool if it works, but I hope there won't be side effects like burnt chicken hair smell

Skarp is a bit too close to crap...

Nothing beats the pleasure of a wet shave with a nice German made Dovo of Solingen razor

Don't forget your badger brush and shaving soap.

Think those were in Pandorum. Goes to show how sci fi is always a few years (decades) ahead of scientific advances. I bet they read about the concepts in sci fi magazines before they're commercialisable technologies, though.

inb4 these go in the "causes cancer" section of the DM.

Yes they were! Well remembered, and also thanks for bringing to mind a film that I love (but that was not much liked by anyone else)!

Just found out the blades I bought the other day are the wrong type for my razor.

So I'm in. At least if it melts your face then you probably won't need to worry about shaving again.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
