Looks to me like a particularly pathetic attempt to divert attention from European car manufacturers. Self-regulation by any industry is always a licence for fraud on a heroic scale. Imagine that - the world's worst polluter has far higher environmental standards that we have. Incidentally, this is not some anti-EU rant. All of our institutions are as bad as anything in the EC
