Do any of you English rugby fans get upset when the Welsh take the p@ss?

    Serious question.

Had a bizarre conversation/argument on facebook yesterday. (Yes I know what they say about arguing on the internet).

I frequent a page dedicated to my home town. Woman on there, who it turns out is English but has a Welsh father, had recently moved back. Anyway, someone posted one of those joke pics and she really took offence and said enough was enough.

I joined in and pointed out it was just banter and not nasty. Then she posts that her Dad is a gentleman not like anyone shes met since she moved here. I pointed out that was possibly not the best comment to make.

Next thing I know, her Dad (bearing in mind this woman looks about 50 odd) is posting using her account telling me I'm a bully, stop picking on his daughter because shes English or else!

Little part of me wonders if this is one of mates winding me up I must admit....

Well, today at clientco (IN ENGLAND) I'm going to have a little cry in the toilet next time someone mentions sheep. (To be fair I've not them off the hook the last two weeks which has been good fun).

But serious question - does anyone really take it personally?????

No, but I'm not a rugby fan either.

I'm surprised you didn't post this in the professional forums.

Is it true that the whole urban myth of sheep shagging came about because rustlers would get less severe punishment if they owned up to shagging a sheep rather than sheep or cattle rustling ?
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

To be fair I'd rather shag my cat than some of the mingers I see walking around here at Clientco.

Nothing worse than community pages in facebook. You've got to remember it's not like your friends list, it's full of people you wouldn't spit on if they were on fire. You've got the whole 9 yards on there from ultra lefties to people that got dumped by their husbands the night before and so on so it's guaranteed you are going to offend someone.

My advice is get the admin to clamp right down on the jokey tulip stuff and stick to the topic.. Actually my advice would be to quit local community pages on FB but some people like them. Don't get in to a discussion like this. It only ends up with people on Facebook thinking you are an idiot as well.

Not in the slightest. I love the banter and some of the best nights have been post match taking a load of tulip from your opponents supporters who've just beaten you.

There are plenty of idiots about, who shout about English bastards, but I ignore them. FWIW, I don't think I've ever heard the same kind of abuse going the other way. That's not to say it doesn't happen of course.

Banter - good. Abuse - bad.

I guess it's knowing how to tell the difference and where to draw the line over offence given or taken.

Aye. To be fair, there are some sound people here at ClientCo who can take a joke. Possibly the friendliest place I've ever worked at. Big up to the people of Glawstershire.

Sadly, the worst place I worked at, in terms of general unfriendliness etc was in Cardiff.

That's because you're from zooport or the valleys and are therefore inferior to the citizens of the 'Diff

The ones that really annoy me are lies spread as memes - like the ones about Facebook charging for posts, or worse still, the ones the NRA get their members to post in response to mass shootings.

(But the one of the England team watching the TV was quite funny)

Anyway, the English can still go on about 1966 and 2003 (and they will)

...in the mean time, I remain standing tall, shoulder to shoulder with the boys in green.
