1) Never rely solely on a satnav postcode if you want to reach a destination in a timely fashion. In some cases a postcode can be a considerable length of road. Use google maps/street view, or just old skool atlases to build up a mental map of where you need to be. A certain amount of satisfaction can be gleaned from arriving at a place you've never been to, and 'recognising' land marks.
2) Citric Acid is a fantastic and cheap rust remover. Forget expensive proprietary products or endless brushing/grinding with a dremel. Simply immerse the object to be treated in a solution with warm water, and once it's worked its magic (several hours) any remaining rust can be scraped off, like frost on a car windscreen, leaving the pristine metal. As an added bonus, any leftover can be used for such earthy pasttimes as the production of homebrew, or soap.
