What buttons do I push on LinkedIn to drum up trade?

Would the successful contractors please advise?

I have a vast linked in network of people I've worked with in the past, and pimps.

I just changed my summary to read "Currently available for contract work" (an idea I got from a quick decko at Brillo's profile). Also he looks like Jeremy Irons in die hard in those sunnies.

What else do I do? Should I do what others do and send messages to me connections that start "Just reaching out"? When I read them I usually bin them in disgust muttering something about "reaching round more like".

Or should I post a waffly status update commenting on something in industry to try and sound knowledgeable, but actually end up looking like an attention seeking tw*t?

Need a steer here folks.
