    What's you hit rate?

When I first started contracting I would scattergun apply. Get several interviews, mess a few up then finally get a role.

The one I just accepted was the only application I bothered firing off and the agent actually called me about it rather than via the usual boards.

I wonder if my behaviour has become more risky or more confident, as I had absolutely no backup if this didn't come in. The war chest is depleted with the home move and recent Spanish coma shenanigans.

In recent years I have tended to get the first role I interviewed for. Not sure if I have just got better at interviewing or not.

How does the panel tend to get on? Do you get most roles you go for? Or do you have to get a few practise interviews in first?

My hit rate is lot better than for permie jobs, but then you don't get asked so many stupid questions and want to punch the interviewer

But as I haven't had an interview for nearly five years, next time might not be so easy

I've mostly got the roles I've interviewed for; I think only one I didn't because of me and a couple where the client changed plans etc. However it's seemed the contract roles for me are few and I apply for a lot and get nowhere. So I'm probably better in person than I am on paper. Maybe I don't BS enough on my cv.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Hard part is getting an interview, it's plain sailing from then on.

I'll post my stats here but I consider myself lucky until today . That might change , need more data
                    2 interviews for contracting
                    2 contracts

Countless of permie interviews for practice , even for roles I didn't want, so I guess I learned how to sell myself properly.

I also find it much easier to interview for contract, than permie. For example I was turned down, once , for decent permie role for being "idealistic" - that feedback made me go contracting where only skill matters and not bulltulip
