    COTW - Talk Talk special

Shocking events at Talk Talk have prompted this Nottingham "financial services" house to act decisively in defense of their business and valued customer base. Shelling out almost twice the minimum wage to get your good services as a security administrator....

At JP Morgan they scrapped all security admins! And introduced a training course for web developers.

80million customer details lost later, they still have not learnt.

I'd like to know who this Nottingham outfit is, so I can make sure my assets are not in there.

Bank press releases and TV adverts never mention how much they pay their security staff, but always say "Here at xxxx, we take your security very seriously...". A better wording might be "We attach no value to your security, because doing so would yield no immediate profit".

To be fair that reads like a junior role, not one thats accountable for security issues. They be running scripts, writing up log file reports, logging incidents on the service desk etc. not getting hands on with anything in an operational sense. It would actually be a good entry into financial services for someone starting out in security.

Actions reflect priorities. In looking to pay peanuts for security staff, the company has already decided that customers' security isn't a priority.

Security is a speciality area. Something that capable admins choose to specialise in. You don't really get "junior" security staff.

Oh... Experian... thanks. I thought you said "explain". Monday morning...
