Driving a modern Aston Martin DB5, the David Brown Speedback GT - Graham Scott - Birmingham Post (http://www.birminghampost.co.uk/news/motoring/car-reviews/driving-modern-aston-martin-db5-10362205?ref=yfp)

For dear old Freako, this is a re-imagining of the classic Aston Martin DB5 of yore, using the mechanicals from the XKR.

If you have to ask how much it costs, you can't afford it.

It's a lot more elegant than the usual overpriced tat.

The DB refers to David Brown, who used to make tractors in Meltham. The old railway line which they used to export their produce is now a cycleway where I taught my kids to ride their bikes. Halfway along this is a big concrete circle which, it turns out, was used for testing tractors (after the line had closed). Apparently there was a big turntable and tractors were attached to this and spun round and round over logs and stuff to test that all the bits and bobs were securely attached.

All this Aston Martin/Bond chic is a bit of a contrast to the kids wobbling round avoiding the piles of dead leaves and horse tulip on the greenway :happy

Here it is:

Didn't David Brown have a factory in Farsley or Rodley in Leeds?

I think it's a bit ugly TBH.

Just think how many GT86s you could buy for £600K.

With or without sasguru in them?

With Sasguru hopefully, then you could adapt the car to run on hot air alone

The front looks a little odd.

A nice car but you can have a fully restored original for £750k - I can't afford either but I'd certainly prefer an original.
