Cheaper to throw the contents away

    We made some jam recently.

I looked into buying some jars but even from a wholesaler it is significantly cheaper to buy 200ml jars of Tesco Value apple sauce (or mustard or whatever) and throw the contents away.

I was thinking next time, it would be fun to get some of those individual serving jars you see in hotels, as a nice way to give gifts. Again from the online wholesaler, their new empty jars cost ~45p + P&P. A pack of 60 on Amazon works out as low as 30p each (hardly a bulk order) including p&p

I am by no means an environmentalist but buying something to throw away is just daft, and upsets me. Similarly when it's cheaper to buy a CD on Amazon than it is to buy the MP3 version - the world's gone mad.

Swing top bottles are the same - if you do homemade fizz etc. The 750ml bottles are about £7 each empty. M&S do their traditional lemonade in them, and frequently have the bottles at 2 for £4.

One of the less well publicised "benefits" of IPSE membership is access to the threads where tarbera shares all the sordid details of his partying for your vicarious amusement/horror/titillation/disgust.

And worse than that they're probably true
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.
