    Train tickets WTF!!

I am now commuting Sun and Friday to London and back.

We know if you book in advance you can save a few quid, MORE THAN A FEW QUID.

I have now booked up until the end of January 2016 and the my recent purchases were around the £105 mark and the ones in Jan were £43, that is a huge difference.

The strange thing is that I tried booking a ticket at the end of Jan returning beginning of Feb and it was £110, up from the previous weeks £43.

    What a rip off.

IIRC you can only book 12 weeks ahead - after that the prices go back up again.

If you can travel off-peak, it's usually much better and the pricing tends to be more consistent. There's also no panic about getting to the station for a certain train.

On the route and times I take to London, it's often cheaper to travel first class than standard.

Last one was about £40 first class and £70 in standard.

It's what I'm doing, I get 2/3 off the train fare that way
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

It'll be more of a problem, with contractors scrounging the bargain basement tickets.

I'm not claiming them from MyCo anyway as I have been working in London for years and moved back to Devon as a personal choice.

Was a more general, tongue in cheek, quip, rather than aimed at you.

Don't blame you, love the SW.

It just reminds me of what could have been.
