Muslims and terrorism, do they just accept it?

    I don't get it.

People following the Islam faith number almost 1.6 billion. I would expect that the vast majority are moderates and only a very small % are extreme.

So when such abhorrent events are perpetrated by Islamic fundamentalists, why don't we ever hear from the vast majority of Muslims to condemn them?

Why can't some of the 1.6 billion Muslims stand up for their faith and organize mass rallies in condemnation of the extremists and to say to the world that these terrorists are not Muslims, they are simply evil, thick-as-tulip-brainwashed murderers. Or come on, at the very least, start a simple petition to show the world that extremists are not speaking for the Muslim faith. Imagine if just 100 million of the 1.6 billion Muslims stood up and fought back.

Surely something is wrong here. If Muslim (Turkey & Bosnia) football fans can boo the minute's silence that was held in respect for Paris, then what the world sees is that most Muslims support and believe in the fundamentalist view.

If the 1.6 billion followers of Islam don't come out and stand up against the - supposedly - minority of fundamentalists then the world will quite naturally assume the vast majority of Muslims to hold extremist views. Perhaps then, frightening though it is to accept, this is the truth?

We don't hear from them simply because the mass media doesn't wish you to hear from them.

You see what you're allowed to see.

This. It simply doesn't get reported as widely as the extremists do.

If only the populace could wake up to the reality that "the news" is massively propagandised we might have a chance of getting somewhere.

Of course it is, but the internet has numerous mechanisms to get the truth out there to the world. And there are plenty of Islamic TV channels that could be broadcasting to defend the honour of their faith.

What of the mass rallies - they can't be ignored by mainstream media, not if millions of Muslims come out in force.

Talking of force, why not start an anti-terror-army, again to defend the true beliefs of their faith? (OK this is a bit far but I'm vexed at a lot of this tulipe right now)

But no, it seems that the many thousands booing at the football games speak far louder than the apparent moderate billions.

I have seen a few outspoken Muslims condemn the attacks, which is great. Much more encouraging than the mass celebration and flag burnings after 9/11.

But be in no doubt, the uncomfortable truth that is not spoken about sufficiently, is that a significant proportion of the Muslim community is pro extremism. Sharia, women oppression, violence in the west to 'protect' islam.

Or, the way the reports were twisted to say that appeals to what you want to read.

The booing at the Ireland match was done by Irish fans who were commenting on a few (tens, not thousands) of Bosnian fans who did not observe the silence.

                And at the Turkey match...

BBC RADIO 4 TODAY MUSLIM POLL
Poll of 1,000 Muslims in Britain for BBC Radio 4 Today

More than two in five (46%) feel that being a Muslim in Britain is difficult due to prejudice against Islam.

Almost all Muslims living in Britain feel a loyalty to the country (95%). Just 6% say they feel a disloyalty.

Nine in ten (93%) British Muslims believe that Muslims in Britain should always obey British laws.

One in four (27%) British Muslims say they have some sympathy for the motives behind the attacks on Charlie Hebdo in Paris.

However, two thirds (68%) say acts of violence against those who publish images of the Prophet can never be justified while a quarter (24%) disagree.

Muslim women are more likely than men to feel unsafe in Britain.

One in nine (11%) British Muslims feel sympathetic towards people who want to fight against western interests while 85% do not.

Half (49%) believe Muslim clerics preaching that violence against the west can be justified are out of touch with mainstream Muslim opinion, while 45% disagree.

And this is the UK, where Muslim and other religions live largely at peace and are arguably better integrated than any other country.
