    Yet another Nixie tube clock.

Popular things considering they stopped making Nixie tubes about 30 years ago.

A bit like vinyl records really.

    But lighting up rather more.

For dear old Freako, this relates to a type of digital clock that uses those old fashioned but fashionable neon display devices termed Nixie Tubes (tm).

    Surreal:

Hmm, up my street that, pity they're out of stock though. Gonna do a bit more research as it mentioned something about "IN-12" replacement tubes which are "readily available online".

Good technical project but what's the point in bolting it to a $0.99 plastic clock?

That Nixie has a whole "Retro Post-Apocalyptic" feel and would certainly look at home somewhere in Fallout 4.

you could connect it to any quartz movement, I suppose a dollar store clock was a cheap way of testing.

I think a clock make with dekatron tubes would be very cool,
