    Are we in this together?

David Cameron to get own plane for official trips - BBC News

The government says the move will save about £775,000 a year as the plane will be cheaper than chartering flights.

    So that's okay then....

He gets a plane which will still be used operationally when not needed for state business.

I imagine this being the UK, his plane is not going to be a luxury like Obama enjoys.

Seems like a 10m refit should provide a reasonable amount of luxury

An RAF Voyager A330 air-to-air refuelling aircraft will be refitted at a cost of about £10m.

Can't see our royals travelling on any old crate.

The flight would also be available to the Royal Family.

£10m in refit costs, so the savings calculated (if they are correct, as usual they appear to have been plucked out of the air) won't start to take effect until somewhere around 2027?
