Burqa banned in Swiss Canton of Ticino (Tessin)

10'000 Franc fine (~£6500) if worn in a restaurant, shop or public building. Federal government has ruled that it isn't unconstitutional.

I don't think wearing the Burqa is a matter of freedom of choice, rather the flaunting of misogyny and a lack of freedom of choice. So I approve. No problem with headscarves though, 'cos I'm from oop North.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Yes things. I do not know what is beneath the burqa! It's not just a matter of freedom but also a national security issue.
You would say that as you seem to have a fear of Muslims probably because you don't know any. This fear is similar to the fear of the Irish lots of people had when I was growing up.

Anyway in any EU country for reasons of national security Muslim women can simply be told they are not allowed to cover up. Some have gone to court claiming it's a breach of their human rights but the Human Rights Directive states that anything that breaches National security is exempt. Switzerland is not in the EU.

Most of those I've met and actually asked why they have covered up are women who think that covering their face makes them more devote. Oddly their husbands, fathers and brothers think they shouldn't cover up unless they are converts.

      Burqa or Niqab?

I've never even seen anyone in a full blown burqa before, not even in KSA.

You've never been to Lutonistan then ?
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

The news reports I've read say 'burqa' in the headline, but then go on to say that it's unlawful to cover your face.

You've never seen anyone in a full burqa before? I wouldn't say it was common, but I've seen them quite a few times in London.

No, I don't have afraid of Muslims and I didn't want to appear a crazy ignorant xenophobic, probably I didn't make myself clear.

I know Muslims that are spiritual devoted and simply don't care about the appearance, we call European Muslims.

Using burqa can be a national security problem and liberty issue, but EU countries are facilitating, countries like Belgium.
Switzerland does not belong to EU, but it's not necessary it's common sense.

In Sluff its quite common, I do worry a bit when they drive round in huge 4x4s looking through a slit.

However you look at it it is the suppression of women.

This. Nearly got wiped out once by some stupid tart in a range rover with L plates. The guy in the passenger seat wrestled the wheel off her just in time. She might even have passed her test if she wasn't dressed up like a crap halloween prankster.
