I'm done with using a limited.

After all of the stress waiting to see what writing was on the wall from Mr Georgie, and the relief today on the fact that he didn't have it in for us this time, it suddenly dawned on me that I'm sick and tired of all of this tulip and feeling under attack every second day from HMRC and gov.uk.

So, I'm out from running a ltd and am going to move to an umbrella approach instead. Yes, not as tax efficient, but it'll stop be having to look over my shoulder every second waiting for the knife to appear.

Of course, perhaps this is exactly what Conservative central wants, but I don't care any more, I'm fed up with being the bad guy.

Appreciate no-one cares, but wanted to get it off my chest.

If it works for you do it.

There are experienced contractors doing the same as you for less stress.

Did occur to me that if these rules did come in and suddenly you find yourself as an "employee" isn't this a big signal that you should have been an employee in the first place.

Just a morbid point to ponder over a beer in the evening.
        I'm alright Jack

not necessarily. There is a difference between an entrepreneur, a freelance and an employee

I may not be an entrepreneur, but I am not an employee

Well not if they completely rewrote them or threatened to do so, especially given that the proposed enforcement mechanism was client risk minimisation, in which case the client taking the path of least resistance based on a potentially biased test would be the operative factors over and above anything else. That is just FUD as usual.

It will probably rear its ugly head again but for 2017 instead, as the changes to T&S made the trajectory they're taking pretty clear.

No, I don't think so. As I said, I know of experienced contractors working with me who use umbrella companies.

                mmm, I don't like it, I really don't.

I still would like a rough idea it would cost me though, if someone has that info.

Well I'm not its biggest fan, but sounds like OP could be a prime customer for the FLC if it ever comes into being.

WcS. I ditched my Ltd and worked through a brolly for a number of years to save myself the hassle.

I went back to a Ltd a couple of years ago, just in time for the fun to start
