    NLUK - as requested

    Let's keep it to general.

It doesn't work like that and you know it. Oh and as a point of interest the "easiest route" is what permies need. Businessmen take the right route for their business and integrity not the path of least resistance.

We went toe to toe in general and it's over. If you can't get over it how about we keep it to general or PM and not have you posting spats at me in the professional forums. You tried it earlier and made a right dick of yourself and your two arguments here are not really becoming of the fine upstanding business person you are. Reply to to poster. Keep me out of it hey.. Thanks.
We didn't go toe to toe. I tore you apart and you ran away.

I did not post "spats", I criticised what I felt was bad advice which stems from your permie-like outlook which permeates everything you seem to post. Not once have I seen you advise someone to stand up to typical employment rubbish. It's always just "bend over, it's easier that way".

You've tried here to goad me into an argument in the professional forums...instead I'll take up your offer of a discussion in general. Why? Because to my mind you're a permie-turned-contractor who consistently gives poor advice and beats up on the newbies because you've found a little corner of the internet where you think you're the mack-daddy. You cling to HMRC guidelines and advise others to do the same instead of learning, and encouraging other to learn, to navigate them. The contracting world needs businessmen desperately.

Now don't leap to the conclusion that I think you have nothing to offer or aren't a worthwhile community member; that's not my opinion. It is my opinion however that you could temper your musings with the understanding that others have some knowledge too and constantly trying to belittle them just makes you look like someone scared of losing his assumed status.

When I joined this forum I found it a not-particularly-welcoming place. Mainly due to you. Think about that just for a moment as I'm certain I'm not the first to feel this way. In fact many I'm sure have come and then gone with barely a whimper and now we're all missing out on the value of their experiences.

As for me, I'm not afraid of a little confrontation so every time you try to slap me down or force me into an unprofessional outburst in the professional forums expect to get called out in general.

To the powers that be: if I'm attacking your mate here and it's distasteful or breaking some rule or other then apologies. I stand by what I have said.

Wow... Someone has issues... And an upcoming ban.

All fair opinions to a greater or lesser degree but at this juncture I'll bend over and not reply as there is no point doing so.

You've made your points now. I'm here to stay as are you. Nothing's going to change so let's find a way to carry on as normal.

If I'm to be banned for standing up to the resident bully I welcome it.

Just use your ignore option instead?

              Appears to contradict this....

No problem. I'd just like to believe you could take this on board in the interests of helping more contractors achieve more success and general happiness. I'd like to think it's what we're here for.

Added after the fact: I don't wish to ignore you; I've made it clear I think you have plenty to offer and I don't suggest you might not have something in your toolkit I might like to borrow sometime.

Why a ban? Excellent ranting. One point though - nobody gets banned for giving bad advice or dodgy opinions , otherwise you'd be clocking up air miles as your arse gets booted from ban to ban

The OP does make some good points - there are some real prats on here, the number of posts should not (and doesn't) confer any super-human rights, it may suggest that people could do with finding another hobby or two.

However - this is CUK, not mumsnet

I really don't think he is, but I have my suspicions who it is and you're way off the mark
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.
