Best gaming console - Black Friday decision

So which is the best gaming console on the market? I don't keep up with these things.

The kids say they're fed up with my old Atari 2600 and want something a little more modern. They weren't impressed when I told them I've an old Sega Megadrive somewhere.

My son wants something called Disney Infinity and it appears it's not backward compatible with the 2600, so I have a choice of possible consoles

What the hell is the difference between them and what is the best one to go for?. And do they all play Pong?

To be honest its down to personal choice, or finding the cheapest deal, game play on both PS4 and XBone are pretty much the same. I am in the PS4 camp, find the controller a bit better for small kids hands then the XBone

Either PS4 or Xbox One which are the "Current Gen" of consoles. Wii or anything Nintendo is a bit "babyish" and tailored for the Eastern market.

On paper the PS4 is more powerful but look at any games and there's hardly any difference, Xbone is cheaper, games are cheaper, online gaming is better, you can play a vast back catalogue of Xbox 360 games and even talk of Xbox original emulation down the line.

I prefer the Xbox controllers as my fingers slip off the triggers on PS3/4 ones (trigger kind of slopes backwards towards the controller, not away from it).

Keep an eye on the offers, you want to be paying say £250 ish with one or two games.

Edit: OP said "kids" ergo game sharing is possible (Xbone) therefore all games are half price.

Amazon had XBone at 229 today

I paid £210 for my PS4. Wouldn't have paid full whack.
