    2015-12-03 Danes Vote To Protect Sovereignty, Reject Further EU Integration

    Denmark voted against further integration on Thursday in a referendum that boasted a turnout of 72%. As WSJ reports, “voters were asked if parliament should have the power to opt-in on a total of 22 EU justice and home affairs laws, from which the small Nordic country has hitherto been exempt.”

    53% of Danes said “no”. ...

              They would have been fine with simply that, just as the UK and EU cooperate with the US police and everywhere else.

              But as you must know, it's all the coercive, ever-closer-union, EU common jurisprudence tulip that was part of the package.

                Yes, restricting cross-border cooperation between police forces is definitely a win!
                Sounds not a good idea but this opt-in involves 22 EU justice and home affairs laws - some may not be so useful. Without knowing the full details (had a quick look but can't be arsed to spend time on it), hard to comment. Although it does seem that the UK opt in allows us to "accept or reject legislation on a case-by-case basis"

                  If there's a legal back door the issue is not whether or not we trust the EU to not use it, but that's there's a legal back door that needs to be closed.
