How are you finding the market just now?

My contract is ending in a week, so a case of turning up despite no work to do.

There seems to be plenty on Jobserve, firing over a few applications, but, unlike June when the phone was going hot, I am getting very few calls and brush-off when I call any I am interested in.

I am baffled as to how the market can be seemingly so quiet yet plenty of seemingly bona-fide roles out there.

Maybe I just need to switch off the re-start in January and use the time I am in the office for Filmon and youtube. I may live a little and brush up on some SQL skills. Am listening to French learning CD on the car journey.

I normally just pop down to the town centre on Wednesday afternoon. It is always in the same place.

The phone rings a lot when agents want to find out where you are working and if there are opportunities to place people, and if you've already got a role they will tell you how busy the market is, safe in the knowledge that you aren't available to fill it.
        It's all just marketing hype.

Even a complete waste of space on earth like Dodgy Agent can write SQL. Learn something more substantial

Not sure if you know this, but even the French have stopped conversing while making porn.

The market at the local gay bar? I would not know - how is it?

                  Contracting 101

Coming up to Christmas, account managers will go to see their clients with a bottle of something.
Clients will say thank you, and tell them about the new projects starting next year, over lunch.
Account managers will go back to the office after the boozy lunch with client, and tell the team about the roles they have to fill in the new year.
Team will post roles on Jobserv.
Team will ignore all applications that arrive, and wait for the real roles to come in from sober client.

Maybe I just need to switch off the re-start in January and use the time I am in the office for youporn, interspersed with occasional sessions in the disabled bogs.
