Antiviruses are scam , they do nothing and can't pick up the pace of new viruses. Even CEO of Symantec said something similar.

The only thing they do is they slow down computer.

That said, I don't have any antivirus for probably a decade

+1. My antivirus software is a Macbook Pro laptop paired with an iPhone, I stay well away from Windows and Android devices, full of holes.

I picked up some malware over the weekend, which caused popups of ladies who had forgotten to put their clothes on (as well as other equally annoying but SFW popups). Spent hours running AVs, cleaners etc, as well as manually removing registry entries and stuff. Still the forgetful ladies kept appearing. I think I've finally got rid of it with Spybot Search and Destroy.

Yes antivirus does more harm than any virus could. It's like permanently having chemotherapy just in case you get cancer one day.

My old Dell laptop got much better and faster the day the supplied McAfee licence expired. Happy day.
