    Construction contractors

I´m a Civil Engineer who is interested in working as a contractor within the railway field.

Do you guys know about a website where I can find information on this industry?

I´m aware that CUK contains plenty of transferable info, which I have already read, but I´m looking for rates, etc.

The only site I know of is railwaypeople.com

I always liked the golden age of rail and the railway children.

No Jenny Agutter, but the live production at the National Railways Museum and also in London is amazing.

York had the original train from the film on stage, if that counts.

Well this is an IT based board, but I happen to know a bit on this.

Rail is a specialist field – with a lot of people already in it & they work very hard to protect their rates / jobs.

First up have you done any work track side? Do you have your PTS card (Personal Trackside Safety)

If you don’t have PTS then you either need to go full time with a contractor to sponsor you or you need to get someone in Rail to sign your form & go do the 3 day course
Most contractors will go to agencies to get staff – very rarely do they employ direct, so you need to start speaking to the rail agencies: it’s been a few years since I worked trackside so I can’t say who are the main rail agencies today - (try google),

                  Growing up is optional
