    How low can they go?

Could we become like the topsy-turvy Swiss, where tax authorities ask NOT to be paid? - Telegraph

Could interest rates go negative in the UK?

They look pretty negative to me at the moment....

Talking of paying tax late - I am actually contemplating paying my tax a few days later so that fooking Osborne does not get good figures in January ... worth a £100 surely?

I always pay my tax as early as possible because the interest on early payments is way more than savings interest. I've received my usual invitation to pay my tax early already - no hint of them discouraging it.

The interest is negative you numpty, so they should charge you more if you pay early, that's the whole point of the "this time it's different (tm)" situation

I see your numpty and raise you an utter pillock. The statutory interest rate from Baselland Steueramt is greater than that of the banks and, at the moment, it is positive.

The point is that it should also be negative, in which case they'd achieve what they currently politely asking for ...
