Revenge for Tier 2's trial balloon leading to Gideon becoming known as Gidiot?

Bosses face £1,000 non-EU skilled worker charge - BBC News

Did not see that coming but I like the look of it if it gets in.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist

Seems entirely reasonable. For example, the US charge quite a lot for processing of H1B's (esp. rapid processing). Whether it will have much impact on numbers though...

      From the article:

It also suggested raising the minimum salary threshold for skilled workers coming to the UK by £9,200, to £30,000.

Adding 30% to the base cost of on-shore resources .... that would wreck someone's finely balanced business case.

As ever, the devil is in the detail. The report mentions various sums and specifically says that they were not asked to set the level, this is a decision for the treasury.

          Section 10.35:

"While we are not against this use of the route, we are, however, keen to ensure that it is used by those highly specialised migrants that partners in the industry claim to need. We therefore recommend that a new route be created alongside the conventional Tier 2 (Intra-company Transfer) route, designed specifically for third-party contracting. We recommend an increase in the salary thresholds required for third-party contracting as a way to prioritise applications and prevent any undercutting and displacement within the UK labour market. We recommend that the salary threshold be set at £41,500, which is an effective proxy for senior managers and specialists. The recommendations for the ‘conventional’ use of the route should also apply to third-party contracting."

£30k sounds like fairly reasonable limit, it probably should be £45-50k - nice high rate taxpayer.

They should auction the work permits the highest bidders. Limit the number to get the best prices.

We want people who are going to be in the top 10% of earners.

Which means earning > £50K before tax.

If not, FOAD in another country you peasants.

In 2014, 151,000 skilled workers and their dependants arrived in the UK or were allowed to stay on.
                  ******* scandal.

Europe has a population of 742,000,000 people, and you're telling me you can't find the worker amongst them?
