    Living in a Bubble

Intresting article in today's Telegraph about conspiracy theories & how the people that subscribe to some of these wacky ideas tend to only interact with other similarly deranged individuals because

(the internet causes us to) self-sort into homogenous bubbles without regard for geography
This can be extended way beyond conspiracy theories, of course and beyond the internet too.

Look at the political expediency promulgated by the BBC, the Guardian and such like - it all seems to come from the same echo-chamber to me.

Indeed - the people who put up the signss on the edge of Totnes pronouncing that "Totnes is a frack free town". Are they really speaking for the residents of the town or are we just hearing the views of the people in that particular bubble?

The problem with living in a bubble is that it you don't question what you hear because dissenting views are not tolerated within the bubble and this promotes fanatacism. And when you're fanatical about something you are going to shout a lot more about it.

Now, what's that old adage about "He who shouts the loudest..."?
