My 3250 estimate is based on the last two troughs, and it considers that the fall will be worse this time as we have in effect a double dip (the pain from the 2008 still there - with the last 8 years of ZIRP pain to add to it).

I'm happy with that as a level of analysis to support my estimate.

Year of two halves. I expect a test of 5000 before the summer, but probably not far below. What happens in the second half will depend on the EU referendum and US election, but my guess is a vote to remain and a Clinton win (although not overly confident about either), together with improved US growth and rate rises back on the table towards the latter half, keeping a lid on any rally. Ending around 6000-6200.

Not too concerned, I have a very long term horizon and no plans to sell, I invest for the future and a retired life living off the income. Added to that I am not a great fan of the FTSE 100 as it is too heavy with a small group of sectors. I have spread my investment with US, Japan, Europe, Pacific and Emerging Markets. Neither do I invest in bonds, other than some small indirect holdings via various investment trusts.
