    Private plates...

A way to personalise your vehicle and express you individualism or strictly for egotistical nob heads?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

A way to help the poor DVLA raise the extra cash needed to cover the entire country in speed cameras.

      I have private plate.

It is a very close acronym to the name of the company where I spend my last and worst permie time - when I started I (like all permies) was too excited about how good the company was, and noticed MD with company personalised plate, but I found similar plate which instead of letter U had V - close enough, and got it too: everything thought I was insanely stupid.

Now I realise they were right, but I kept the plate (will cost to move it anyway), and will move it to my Porsche 911 when SKA matures, I will do so because when I look at the number plate I remember how sh1t it was to work there and no situation I am in could be worse than those miserable months that were only lighted up by posting excessively on this forum.

Perhaps, but people will think you're a dick for the following reasons :-

            A) It doesn't actually spell debug
            b) Its very sad to have a "bug" plate that isn't on a VW beetle
            c) Its even sadder to have a "bug" plate that IS on a VW Beetle.

If this "personalisation" consists of combining two numbers to look like a letter (e.g. 13 = B) or putting in black number plate bolts to look like full stops, then it makes you look like a t0sspot and a cheapskate all rolled into one.

As with all things related to this country and its government the personalised licence plate system is a joke!

My wife has one that spells out her first name (correctly, the only number used is a 1 to replace an i and on standard number plates the 1's and i's are identical anyway). Just got to transfer it accross to her new car....
