    Brexit EU negotiated trade deal

How do Brexiteers justify the claim that the EU will give us a good deal when we leave? - Telegraph

"the government warns that the negotiated deal with the European Union following our exit could take a decade"

Bollox. Since we import more from the EU than we export, we have the upper hand.

someone pointed it out that was twice as long as WWII to renegotiate EU trade ......
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Glad you said this as I was thinking about exactly this claim:

      https://www.uktradeinfo.com/Statisti...n-EU_Data.aspx

EU Exports for December 2015 are £10.4 billion.EU Imports for December 2015 are £17.0 billion.
      = €13bn / €21bn or 45% / 55%, total €34bn (imports + exports) or ~50% of our trade, per month or €408bn p.a.. That means €408bn or 50% is with non-EU countries.

International trade in goods - Statistics Explained

EU-28 international trade in goods with the rest of the world (the sum of extra-EU exports and imports) was valued at EUR 3 383 billion in 2014.
Minus the €408bn that the UK accounts for = €2975bn.

I.e. if we were to cut all trade with the EU we'd lose 50% of our trade, and the rest of the EU would lose 13%. They need us more than we need them?

Am I wrong about any of this?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Mega bollox. The trade deficit is concentrated on a handful of EU countries , the other 25-odd don't give a tulip.
The point, however, being that we won't lose trade with the EU, but it will be on their terms, just like Norway and Switzerland have had to concede.
Basically the only REAL effect of Brexit will be to remove any influence we have in the EU, we'll still have to play by most of their rules.
        Hard Brexit now!

No, although as in my previous post you need to split out the countries in the EU to analyse the full effect.

EU immigration is higher per capita in Norway and Switzerland than the UK.

              Quite

I think we should be extremely grateful that people like this are representing our "influence" and "interests"

You forgot the last paragraph, the best bit:

Nigel Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party, said: "Ashton just goes to prove the Brussels pay formula: that Eurocrats are paid huge amounts of money inversely to the amount of work they do or the little good that they achieve."
What does he get, 250,000 in expenses a year, 79,000 salary and his wife gets a 30,000 salary, all of which is also paid by the taxpayer. Mr Farage has a 45.6% participation in roll call votes, a bit lower than the 55% he claimed. When compared to his colleagues, though, the UKIP leader does not exactly stand out for zeal: he ranks 758th out of 766 MEPs. I don't think that he's acting in your interests, in fact he's only actin gfor his own interests and if he wants rid of the EU, then maybe he should get off of his fat greedy arse:

MEPs yesterday overwhelmingly rejected a vote of no confidence in the European Commission put forward by UKIP and far-right MEPs, with 461 MEPs against and just 101 in favour. UKIP, including their leader, Farage never turned up for the vote!
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

All EU laws will be carried over the day we leave. No particular rush to make replacements. Hand in our notice (article 50) to the EU and set the civil servants on their leisurely way to agree a new deal.

However the EU has had 40 years to work its way into the fabric of our society. For instance the more stupid members of our society have even come to believe the EU actually gives us money instead of giving us our own cash back minus deductions.

The Universities, Central and Local governments are used to working with/for the EU. These are the people who scream the loudest about leaving the EU. Some of them cannot cope with idea they'll have to work out things for themselves.

Sadly it is going to take many years to entirely purge the EU poison from our bloodstream..

Eh? I think Nige's working full time to get us out. How many politicians can you name that want to scrap their own jobs?
