A few years ago, Eurovision was much smaller.
We even won it a few times.
There was some tactical voting, but we all did alright in a sharing sort of way.
But something went wrong.
Now the Eurovision is huge, with members outside of Europe.
The Eastern Europeans are so numerous they seem to have a disproportionate impact on it all.
Some question whether we should take part any more.
Some say we don't take it seriously and our big name music artists are more interested in not taking part in an amateur affair.
What is clear, is that beyond the mild entertainment and faux solidarity, the chances of Britain winning are zero.
