    New car time

So after 150,000 miles the trusty Mondeo is going to be replaced now I'm not doing the slog up and down to Portsmouth / Southampton every week.

    In the running are :

    Jaguar XF 2.0d R-Sport
    BMW 520d M Sport
    Mercedes C200d Sport

    Not buying brand new.

    Opinions?

Look at the data. Of the 3 mainstream Germans only Mercedes are reliable. And finally imo they also look good. Jags have good dealers but not sure about the reliability stats.
So of your choices I would have the Merc.

Ps Sorry was assuming you were doing large miles. if not get the Bmw.
      Hard Brexit now!

Hmmm, my Mercedes was quite often in the garage and needed a replacement engine after 40,000km whereas the BMW which followed did 240,000km in 7 years yet only went in the garage for a minor repair. Modern cars are all pretty similar though so really its an individual choice...
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Nope no big miles anymore, and will be avoiding for the foreseeable as far as possible.

Any particular reason for the Beemer?

Looking to buy nearly new i.e. <18 months old and low miles.

What part of stats as opposed to anecdote do you not understand?
Everyone knows someone who smoked 60 and drank a bottle of whisky a day and lived to 100.
Merc became so tulipe when they merged with Chrysler that they had to overhaul their quality, hence why they're better than the other 2 now. sOmehting similar may happen to Audi now they've had a crisis.

2L engine too small for BMW 5 series.
