    CUK and Gorilla Accounting

Has CUK done some kind of marketing deal with Gorilla, does anyone know?

I received an unsolicited letter from Gorilla today telling me that they are using information obtained from Companies House and then "proactively approaching Contractors and Freelancers offering services".

The letter states not to take their word for it, "visit the Contractor UK forum and speak to our clients direct."

Have they done some kind of deal that gives access to CUK as well, or are they just using the CUK name in their spam mailing?

They've had a quite a few mentions, but nothing I could see from a quick skim of the goole site search results to suggest they have lots of customers on here.

IIRC, SJD own CUK if that's the case, I can't imagine a deal will be done?

SJD own CUK? That's the first I've heard of it, and as for Gorilla - I think they're a bunch of cheeky buggers who are pushing their luck.

My mistake, I believed I'd seen it posted here, but I can't find it. Apologies.

Had the same letter - it should've said "And ask for NLUK".

I'd heard the SJD thing too - can't remember where from - SJD (secretaries) were once the CoSec - perhaps that's where it came from?

Can't blame them for trying to proactively win market share, just bin the letter if you're not interested, simples

I got a great one off Hiscox the other day along the lines of "what's more annoying than unsolicited mail? - Being uninsured!"

                Had to laugh

Fair play to them. They seem to be getting a good name and makes sense to try to capitalise. Wouldn't have thought a direct mail campaign would be the best way though. From what I can tell there's a lot of accountants do it so it's likely to get lost among the rest of them.

I don't think it was the letter itself that was the issue, more the claim that you could talk to their clients on CUK when they don't immediately appear to have any here. Or if they do, they (the clients) are keeping schtum about it.
