This guy is laughing at Norway and wins badly

Anders Behring Breivik, Norway murderer, wins human rights case - BBC News

The thing that I don't get (other than how a man who killed eight people with a car bomb then went on to kill 69 young people at a summer camp and who does a Nazi salute every time he goes into court could have any human rights at all) is how he made a complaint under the European Convention on Human Rights when Norway isn't even a member of the European Union.

Does that mean that if we leave the EU we will still be restricted by the regulations we've agreed while we've been a member? For me, that's one of the main arguments to leave, so we can define our own rules and regulations.

Norway are a member of the "Council of Europe" as are Russia.

Do not confuse "Europe" with "The EU".

The ECHR is not part of the EU. It a separate thing based on the Council of Europe. Norway is part of the Council of Europe.

BREXIT will have no effect on ECHR.

          A good question.

It sticks in my gut to say it, but I do think he should not be mistreated. You can judge a society by how the vulnerable are treated. Make an exception and you are on a slippery slope.

Both the left and extreme right win with this verdict.
the left can show how liberal they are
the extreme right are happy as their hero got what he wants
