          Also, there's a big difference between the government not buying from abroad and UK citizens not doing it.


          If UK industry wants to grow then UK citizens need to buy UK products and not mind possibly paying more for them than an import.


          ...most of the time the citizens fighting for this are quite keen for the government to do it, but refuse to do it themselves.

                well if the government imposed VAT properly on imports then maybe UK companies could compete.

                we sat and watched our record shops close because companies were shipping things in vat free.

                similar happened to manufacturing.
