    Scottish Strawberries

Bought some from M&S today and boy they are sour as tulip.

Where do you get some proper British Strawberries when you need them?

    Out with the Scots ...

Only buy strawberries from the Southern half of the UK where they can be grown outside.

I grew some last year in my garden. Not sure if it was the variety, but each one was as big as Nigella's mangoes and they tasted great.

Oddly enough in out local wee Tesco we pick out the Perth strawbs, juicy as fook!

The Essex ones are well rank and thick as pig tulip on quiz shows too.....

Always worth the smell test before you buy them. the stronger and more intoxicating the strawberry smell, the better they will taste.

Our greenhouse ones are pretty tasty at the moment but the outdoor ones are a couple of weeks away.

Coincidentally, there was this feature on BBC 1 this morning explaining the impact of EU regulations on our strawberries.

And those smug looking Romanian fruit pickers posing for cameras. Not a single fit lass
