I need to be in Belp CH (near Bern Airport) Tue. flights there are crap so going to Basel first, how's the trains/drive Basel/Belp? Looks fairly ok, but local knowledge appreciated...
Number 50 bus to Basel SBB (regular and frequent). Basel to SBB also has regular trains - takes about an hour. Basel/Bern by car is like the M25 on the A1 section, so I don't recommend it.

I'd have given a fellow CUKer a lift, you selfish &^*.
I've taken MP to loads of places when she visited Bradford recently. Ask her
no she is still too traumatised. Also she asked what a 'Bunk up' was. I explained it was a bit like making love but takes under 30 seconds instead of 3 hours, she seemed happy with the answer.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Cheers, forgot to say landing in Basel 22:00 ish roads ok then?
Assume cost doesn't matter so much - definitely hire a car. The roads will be clear and easy. At that time, it'll take about 2 hours to get to Belp by train - and if your flight is delayed there is a risk of missing the last train. By car, no more than an hour and half.
Where is the best place for him to buy chocolate and cuckoo clocks?
Chocolate - any supermarket has a good selection, though there are specialists.
Cuckoo clocks? Dunno. Try the Black Forest in Germany - that's where they come from. Most "Swiss" cuckoo-clocks are made in China - though I think there's one Swiss company that's decided to cash in on the ignorance of foreigners.

And I found 110 CHF in my Jew box (can u say Jew box nowadays - means a secret box where you stash bits of money away, zanachka in Russian I think), so that'll last about 4 seconds.
