Did you want a referendum?

OK, so who actually wanted a referendum? Regardless of how you voted, did you actually want to have to make this choice?

Having a referendum means that things change, regardless of outcome. A remain vote would have been a green light for Europe to carry on with ever increasing political union. We're about to find out what a Brexit means.

The referendum itself has been divisive, regardless of the outcome.

Aren't these decisions what we elect our leaders for?

Definitely. And unlike most educated, reasonably successful people I respect the rights of ordinary working class people (unlike most "socialists" these days) to determine the direction of their own futures.

It always seemed like overkill when the sole intention was to keep the Daily Mail on Dave's side long enough to get him through the General Election.

In fact, it was never supposed to happen. Going in to the election, Dave assumed that he wouldn't get an overall majority, so he promised the referendum to keep UKIP at bay, confidently believing he'd be in another coalition and could just say "Sorry, the LibDems won't let me have the referendum after all." Unfortunately he won, had to go ahead with it, and the damn thing blew up in his face.

Just the most significant of many reasons why he'll go down in history as possibly the most wretchedly useless PM this country's ever had.

It was the majority of those who bothered to vote. No easy solution to enforcing the views of the undecided unfortunately. Who knows? Maybe some are happy/unhappy whatever and have no real interest. Good for them.

Nobody stopped others to vote. It's not like Leave campaign was the only one and their supporters did not beat up Remain supporters like it happens in countries like Russia - whoever wanted to Remain but failed to vote - they'll have to leave with it, every vote counted.
