    Who elected Sir Jeremy Heywood?

Also John Manzoni, Sir Simon McDonald and Melanie Dawes

I didn't vote in any election that got them to their positions.
Slightly concerned that they are unelected officials who are running the country and being paid a small fortune to do so...

I would be more concerned if they were on minimum wage.

I don't think £140k-£240k per annum is minimum wage.

The UK has always been run by un-elected officials. It's a task that needs professionals - not politicians.

It's also a long way from the salaries available for equivalent posts in the private sector. If they are doing a decent job then we are actually getting value for money based on the market.

These guys are not political appointments, although ministers will have a say in their selection.
