    Working in multiple EU locations...

Got a promising sniff of a roll in the EU proper, good rate, bit odd really, had interview, went well, chatting with the dude and he says his contractor types (from UK and EU proper) flit between the various company locations in EU from their home state - no idea if it's to avoid tax etc, just that they do it. Same role just hot desk in different countries.

Made me think about how it would work if I got the role, and did a week in one country, two in another and a week in another, mixed them about and have no real tax residency that isn't UK.

Does that work or does it make it freakishly complex?

Not gonna trouble the accountant with this, not their remit, need to find a tax speicialist I think, but just a general sounder here for now...

Maybe it was his way of saying it would be expected of you. Were travel expenses discussed?

Sounds potentially complicated. As long as you stay near the tax threshold though shouldn't be a problem, i.e. you won't be chased if there's no tax to pay anyway.

I would have thought you could justify your time as business trips.

You're always taxed in your home country anyway. Your main tax residency isn't just dependent on you being there for a minimum of 183 days, it's only one of many criteria.

Cheers BB, I have been offered the role, having a good old think.

They want me to go on local payroll on Danish ETS scheme, (actually I believe is a requirement in Denmark) since main location is Copenhagen, which I'm not averse to in principle, and they also say I can use my UK limited for time spent working in other countries, which sounds a bit odd but why not?

Rate is excellent, enough in it for travel/accom, etc and some tax errors lol but not enough for a major fook up which is worrying and which is why I want to get it right. Just seems no-one knows the 100% correct solution!

Thinking of staying in Malmö (cheaper), train it to Copenhagen (35 mins) and flying to Stockholm for the work in Sweden. Nice and complicated!

What I'm aiming to do is work local payroll in EU as much as possible, leave warchest in Ltd alone, gain foothold in EU state for a nice comfy pension while post Brexit UK pensiners return living in a sordid little grief-hole on £45 a week and a single-bar electric fire......
