The EU should become more political

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...ent?CMP=twt_gu

His SPD colleague and the European parliament president, Martin Schulz, meanwhile, used an op-ed in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung to suggest that the time had come to turn the European commission, the EU’s executive body, into “a genuine European government”, held accountable by the European parliament and a chamber representing the views of national governments.

We got out just in time. Complete central control of EU countries with an EU government.

Won't happen, no-one in Germany is really interested in that. It's basically just one man's opinion and anyway:

Merkel’s party made it clear that it expected Schulz to leave his post as European parliament president at the end of his term in January 2017 and give way to a centre-right MEP.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

so lets get this straight, in the totally democratic EU that we were told we should be grateful we belong to then Merkel gets to decide who is and will be president on her own?

Good job we voted for her!
