Real men have an AA Road Atlas balanced on the steering wheel or better still, on the passenger seat where you can lean over and read it on a straight bit of road.....

That's not the problem. It's when lorry 1 is doing 60 and taking two miles to overtake lorry 2, which is doing 59.5 while dithering doris in her Ka is chugging along at 61 in lane two and pulls out into lane 3 2 miles in advance.

Part of the problem is we have cars pulling out with 50 bhp and other with 500 bhp.

Then we have too many cars/lorries/buses, not enough roads, not enough lanes.
