    Reading

Or The Carling Weekend, as it is now called.

    Anyone going?

I have to confess, some of the revellers I passed at Reading Station this morning looked a little clean cut.

I remember going when it was Reading Rock. The Stranglers played & JJ Burnel produced a live mongoose on stage. Told the crowd he'd brought it along to eat headliner Alice Cooper's boa constrictor.

I seem to recall bottles of yellow stuff raining down. Most people didn't have tents and dossed down in a huge communal marquee where you were always at risk of being woken by some fat, bearded grebo climbing on top of you.

    <shudder/>.

These Beliebers don't know what a true festival experience is really like

The BTL is near the "new" site of the Leeds festival, roads closed and traffic chaos every year.

I worked there a few years back when it first moved from Temple Neswam, fields of the great unwashed and once in a blue moon decent music.

Not really into pop festivals, but someone I was talking to in the pub at the weekend reckons the Minehead festival is good

He also thinks the Glastonbury Festival has become too commercialised and mainstream, which I can well believe seeing how often it's in the news each year.

Is that the one that takes place in Butlins?

I see the Sidmouth Folk Festival is still going strong. Bloody place is full of folkies all the year round.

People were saying that about it 20 years ago.

My daughter is off to Reading ( today, early pass, it's what all the students get ) today. God that makes me feel old.

Oh flip, I hope that's not on this Friday. The M4 will be rammed!

A detour via Oxford and the A420 to Swindon might be in order.

Glastonbury was so commercialised it was frequented by people wanting to just hang out. Reading used to be where proper decent Rock music used to play. At least, that was the case years ago when I used to go to music festivals. Not sure now.

                  Reading 2016 Line-up

Foals, Biffy Clyro & RHCP the only ones I've heard of.

RHCP the only ones I like & since I saw them when they were good, this holds no interest for me at all.

EODM were the band playing in Paris when the nutters loosely associated with a religion we don't talk about shot loads of people.
